Healthcare Play at Nescot
This two-year, part time course is designed for individuals wishing to study for a career as a registered Health Play Specialist.
Nescot is pleased to work with the University of West London in delivering a Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism. We welcome applications from individuals who hold a (minimum) Level 3 qualification in the field of children and young people and have been qualified and practicing for two years or more.
The course supports the development of professional competencies in the field of therapeutic play for children and young people in hospital and community healthcare settings.
Successful completion of the programme leads to registration with the Healthcare Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET). All students will attend a healthcare placement under the mentorship of a registered Health Play Specialist. Students will be required to undertake 200 hours of hospital placement in Year One and Year Two of the course.
This course is delivered one day a week at Nescot and one placement day in a healthcare setting. During Year One you will build on, and apply, previous academic studies in relation to areas such as SEARCH for Health and Child Development. In Year Two, amongst other subjects, you will study Leadership & Management and Health in Children & Young People.
